Good: The staff were excellent - very helpful and generous with their time. The room was very quiet and peaceful. Excellent breakfast.
Bad: Location - we had to taxi most places as it was too hot to walk.

8Luxurious and successful elevation of the traditional Ryokan (but you WILL pay for it)
Good: Very comfortable and spacious, personal onsen in the room was very luxurious, staff was friendly and courteous, restaurant and meal was very good, location near local shops and shrine was quite convenient.
Bad: Very expensive (but you definitely get what you pay for), a little far from metro stations.

10JUNEI was a great option for us. The rooms were comfortable and clean.
Good: The hotel is about a mile from Kyoto station and very close to Gion and other points of interest. It was located on a quiet street. The property was beautiful.
Bad: I thought it was well done.
