2There are better hotels with...
Good: Location is very good on the upper west side.
Bad: Rooms are really bad and depressive. You have a tall wall from both windows, nothing else. For this rate, you can definetely stay in a better hotel in NYC. We made a wrong decision for our stay.

9Great UWS location!
Good: The room was nice but had no view, except that of another building's brick wall. I found the pillows a bit too hard and lumpy for me. The bathroom was clean and brightly lit--good for putting on makeup. Location was perfect as it was on the UWS. Easily accessible to the subway and Central Park or the Museum of Natural History. The lobby was nice as far as hotel lobbies go and the doorman was diligent in his duties.
Bad: I asked for an upgrade to a room with a view but as is often the case when traveling alone, this is not an option.

5Great location, nice building, terrible...
Good: The hotel is well-located, has nice rooms, and a nice lobby. The problem is the staff at the front desk. They are always rushed and reluctant to answer simple questions, such as 'Is breakfast included in my reservation?' Is there a room on a higher floor?
Bad: The hotel is under renovation. The outside walls are covered with a black cloth that prevents light from entering. The staff at the front desk is always defensive and reluctant to answer questions.
